The Sussex Integrated Dataset (SID) has been established to improve the quality of health, well-being and care across the Sussex Health and Care Partnership (SCHP) as part of the Our Care Connected Programme, which forms part of the wider Integrated Care System's Digital Ambition. There is an increasing need to share and link data between partner organisations within the SHCP to ensure that the health and social care needs of the Sussex population can be managed in a more coordinated way and to support better understanding of the connections and interdependencies between health and social care services with the aim of improving patient outcomes by linking health and care data held across the Sussex system.
Our Care Connected gives health and care professionals and local people in Sussex shared online access to records and data through three digital enabler projects:
Sussex Integrated Dataset, used to analyse how local health and care services can be better designed and delivered for improved patient outcomes.
My Health & Care Record, to help people stay well, increase independence and manage a condition or treatment.
Plexus is an e-record platform for GPs, hospital and community teams.
Aim of the Role
Provide expert data analysis services and outputs deriving from the Sussex Integrated Dataset (SID). Working within the SID central team the post holder will assist in the processing of data from various data providers, transform and aggregate the data to enable efficient and accurate reporting and support data reporters in their interrogations of the SID database.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Using SQL data mining techniques to extract information from large and varied data sets and identify correlations and patterns
Organising, transforming and optimising information into comprehensible structures
Using data to predict trends and answer common requirements in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole
Performing statistical analysis of data
Using tools and techniques to visualise data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
Preparing reports and presenting these to management or clients
Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and requirements
Ensure compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the department
Be a champion for best practice, ensuring that quality and outcomes are the focus of all work undertaken.
Skills & experience required:
Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
SQL: Excellent knowledge of SQL database including structuring and manipulation of data
Big data: Strong knowledge of big data and the integration of multiple datasets
ELT: Strong knowledge of Extract/Load/Transform processes and techniques
Power BI and Tableau
Health Care/Medical data
Cloud technologies: Strong knowledge of cloud-based systems and frameworks
Python: Strong knowledge of programming language and SQL loading techniques
Current techniques in SQL Data Warehousing
Understanding of information sharing and GDPR
Experience handling and analysing datasets from a variety of sources e.g. primary care clinical systems, financial systems, postcode files etc.
Experience presenting analysis in a variety of formats to a variety of different audiences.
Experience using SQL Trace and other optimisation tools
