Town: London | Country: United Kingdom
Desccription: Prestigious opportunity for an experienced Chemometrician to join a leading university in London who have recently been awarded funding from CRUK.
Spanning 5 years and 6,000 patients, the research project aims to develop an easy to use, non-invasive breath test to detect cancer at an early stage. The role will involve working in collaboration with the Scientists and Surgeons to confirm which volatile organic compounds are made by cancer, investigate the exact source of VOCs and improve the accuracy of the breath test detection.
Due to the high peak capacity and sensitivity obtained through non-targeted GCxGC-TOFMS analysis, complex data sets are generated. The high density of data generated requires the use of multivariate chemometric techniques to improve the efficiency of analysis.
A Chemometrician is required to apply chemometric techniques to the GC-TOF-MS data to allow the verification of trends or recognition of patterns, thereby extracting reliable and accurate sample information for the Statisticians to interpret.
This role is suitable for experienced Chemometricians with experience using outputs from GC-TOF-MS and generating data from chromatograms.
This role is offered on a full-time basis for the duration of the 5-year programme where the successful candidate will join a prestigious, collaborative, and friendly group. The university can offer career progression in the direction of the candidates choice, a competitive salary and sponsorship may be available for applicants with a highly relevant skillset.
